WHAT’S INVOLVED?
Home-Start Deveron support is voluntary and flexible and takes in to consideration your individual needs and requirements as a parent. Our staff and volunteers will have had parenting experience themselves and will understand the pressures and challenges parenting can bring.
Home visiting involves a volunteer visiting you in your own home for a couple of hours per week to offer you support and practical help. All of our staff and volunteers are members of the Scottish Government Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme so you know that you can trust them.
WHAT WILL THE VOLUNTEER DO?
This depends on the difficulties you are experiencing and what kind of help you want from your volunteer, but in general it can include:
Providing practical support and parenting advice if you are struggling with the emotional and physical demands of having a baby, young children, twins or triplets
Playing with or reading to your children to give you a break
Providing moral support in trying something new, for example coming along to one of our group sessions
Being a friend if you are feeling lonely, or isolated in your community, have no family nearby and are struggling to make friends
Providing help if you are finding it hard to cope if your child is ill or because you are ill
Providing help if your child is disabled
Providing support if you have been hit hard by the death of a loved one
Providing advice and help with practical things like budgeting, cooking or healthy eating
Helping you to attend medical and other appointments
Helping you find out about and access local services
